Binge Eating Disorder (BED)

If food feels like both a comfort and a source of pain, you’re not alone—and you are not broken

Binge Eating Disorder (BED) is one of the most common eating disorder, yet it’s often misunderstood and kept hidden. At Citrine Counseling, we create a compassionate space for you to explore your relationship with food, body, and emotions—free from judgment and full of support.

What Is Binge Eating Disorder?

Binge Eating Disorder involves episodes of eating large quantities of food, often quickly and in secret. These moments can feel out of control, and they’re usually followed by deep emotional distress like guilt, shame, or regret.

What BED isn’t: a lack of willpower or a personal failure.

What it is: a real and valid mental health concern, often tied to emotional pain, stress, trauma, or patterns that no longer serve you. You deserve care, not criticism—and that’s where we come in.

Warning Signs & Symptoms

Not sure if what you're going through “counts”? You don’t need a diagnosis to seek help. These are just some common (but not the only) signs that may point to binge eating disorder:

  • Eating large amounts of food quickly and often in secret

  • Feeling out of control during eating episodes

  • Eating past fullness or when not physically hungry

  • Intense feelings of shame, guilt, or sadness afterward

  • Dieting frequently, but feeling stuck in a cycle

  • Struggling with body image or self-worth

  • Avoiding social situations because of food or body concerns

If you see yourself in any of these, we want you to know: there is help, and there is hope.
